Introduction

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in this Tutorial and Research Workshop on AFFECTIVE DIALOGUE SYSTEMS (ADS04), which will be held at the Kloster Irsee in southern Germany from June 14 to June 16, 2004.

After two successful ISCA Tutorial and Research Workshops on Multimodal Dialogue Systems at Kloster Irsee, Germany in 1999 and 2002, a discussion of the latest developments in the area of affective multimodal dialogue systems now seems timely.

The workshop will focus on the role of affect and emotion in dialogue including e.g. design issues, applications, evaluation and tools. It will provide a forum for the presentation of research and applications and for lively discussions among researchers as well as industrialists. Prototype and product demonstrations will be very welcome.

ADS04 is organised as a collaboration between the Universities of Augsburg, Ulm and Southern Denmark and DaimlerChrysler Research and Technology.

We welcome you to the workshop.
