Sponsored Special Session on Pedagogical Agents

Part of IVA2003 is a special session on on applications of IVAs in education, or pedagogical agents that is sponsored by the EU Framework 5 Project VICTEC

• Date: Right after IVA in the afternoon of Wednesday Sepember 17.

Theme of the Special Session

Pedagogical agents, in 2D or 3D graphical environments, are embodied synthetic characters which support a CBL (computer-based learning) environment, or, in some cases, perform as virutal actors in role-play for education or training, enriching the interaction between learners and these environments or scenarios. Embodied pedagogical agents can be tutors, companions, or even actors in role-playing educational environments. They may be included in educational domains where the target is to acquire knowledge or particular skills (science, maths) but also in personal and social education where attitudes and feelings are as important.

The VICTEC workshop takes place on Wednesday (17. Sept.) in the afternoon. The following presentations are scheduled:
